Department of Defense Tuition Assistance

If you are currently serving in the military, you may be eligible for funding offered through the Department of Defense Tuition Assistance program. Check your eligibility status and the amount for which you qualify with your Service prior to enrolling.  Click here for instructions.

Payment Deadline and Deferments

Tuition and fees are due prior to the official first day of class published in the Academic Calendar. The dates will vary based on program. Students who have not paid tuition and fees after the first day of class will be charged a $100 late fee.
Students who have a payment from a third party must have proper documentation prior to the first day of class in order to have a 3rd party credit applied to the account and avoid late fee. Students who have active financial aid should have met all requirements and cleared any holds and “to do” from the Office of Veteran’s service and Financial Aid (VSFA). Students who do not have financial aid posted prior to first day of class, must notify Bursar’s office in order to avoid late fees.

Students eligible for Veteran’s benefits and not certified by VSFA by the first day of class must submit a Tuition Deferment request form. A tuition extension will be applied to allow additional time for processing and avoid the late fee. Students with unpaid tuition and fees on the census date will be reported to the Registrar’s office for immediate dismissal for non-payment.  More information at the Bursar’s Office.

Traditional Financial Aid & VA Benefits

Students can use VA Education benefits in conjunction with federal and state aid. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov to be considered for grants and student loans. Click here for more information on how to apply. Submitting your FAFSA will also allow you to submit the UT Health San Antonio Scholarship Application.  Eligible students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree can receive a Pell Grant; for amount information, click here. Federal Direct Loans are also available; amounts vary depending on the student’s degree and cost of attendance budget. Students are strongly encouraged to seek government loans prior to considering private loans since government loans have more favorable terms and conditions such as deferments, forbearances, and different repayment plans.
