- Ability to Benefit – Acceptable documentation that can be submitted includes:
- High School Diploma
- Final Official High School Transcript that shows the date when the diploma was awarded
- “Secondary school leaving certificate” (or other similar document) for students who completed secondary education in a foreign country and are unable to obtain a copy of their high school diploma or transcript.
- General Education Certificate (GED) or GED Transcript
- A State certificate or transcript received by a student after the student has passed a State-authorized examination that the State recognizes as the equivalent of a high school diploma. This includes tests similar to the GED, such as the High School Equivalency Test or the Test Assessing Secondary Completion.
- An academic transcript that indicates the student successfully completed at least a two-year program that is acceptable for full credit toward a bachelor’s degree

If home-schooled in Texas, a transcript or equivalent signed by the student’s parent or guardian that lists the secondary school courses the student completed and documents the successful completion of a secondary school education in a home-school setting.
- DD Form 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge From Active Duty may serve as an alternative documentation if it indicates that the individual is a high school graduate or equivalent

This form is used if you are a resident of the State of Texas and you do not meet the citizenship requirements for Federal student Aid. Please submit this form along with the TASFA verification worksheet, 2019 tax transcript, 2019 W2 form(s), and student’s proof of Selective Service Registration (for males only). If you are a dependent student we will need all of your parents’ income information too.
