Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) II – Closed

Acknowledgement

UT Health San Antonio has signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification & Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 314(a)(1), (a)(4) of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA).

Allocation

UT Health San Antonio has received an allocation of $772,901 for direct-to-student HEERF II grants.

Eligibility

In order to receive funds through the CRRSSA Act, students must be able to show they meet the exceptional financial needs test by either:

  • have a calculated Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $0.00 on their 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • are eligible to receive a Federal Pell grant in the spring 2021 semester

Eligible students must be enrolled and eligible for Title IV funding at the time of disbursement.

Distribution

In March 2021, UT Health San Antonio has distributed $772,901 from the HEERF II grant to 1,376 students who met the eligibility standards above.  The awards ranged from the minimum amount of $560 to a maximum amount of $566.

Delivery

Students awarded the grant will receive the funds, via direct deposit or paper check depending upon the student’s preferences as recorded in My Student Center, without consideration of account balances due for tuition and fee charges.

Other Considerations

Amounts received are not taxable to the student and will not be reported on the students 1098T according to guidance published by the IRS.
