General Information

Event is Halloween-themed. Everyone is encouraged to dress up (However, this is a family event, please keep costumed appropriate and tasteful. Student Life Staff reserves the right to have individuals leave the event if they feel a particular costume is inappropriate).

- There is no limit to number of participants in each team (UT Health San Antonio students and their spouses/children only). Please note that your team is responsible for distributing prizes to team participants.

- Teams must make between 3-4 gallons of chili (the equivalent of 2 large crock pots). Each team will have access to ONLY 2 outlets.

-Teams will be provided with (1) 25 foot extension cord.  Teams must bring any additional extension cord(s) needed to plug in their crock pots (25 foot minimum or longer if possible) and (1) power strip.

- All teams must have their chili pre-cooked and kept in a crock pot to remain warm.
 
- SGA will provide small sampling cups, plastic-ware, crackers and food service gloves. Please use them when distributing chili samples.

- Teams may start setting up as early as 4 pm and must be ready to serve by 5:15 pm.

- Chili Categories:
> Best All-around-voted on by the judges
> Best Presentation-voted on by the judges
> Hottest-voted on by the judges
> Best Veggie-voted on by the judges
> People's Choice Award-voted on by the students

- Costume categories
> Best Solo Costume-voted on by the judges
> Best Group Costume-voted on by the judges

- All team captains must check in their team at the event on Thursday by 5:15 pm at the registration table on site. Judging will begin at 5:30 pm.

- SGA will reimburse each team up to $25 for chili ingredients. Receipts must be turned in to the Office of Student Life within 30 days after the event. Alcohol beverages will not be reimbursed.

- The winner of Best All-Around Chili category will have their team name engraved on the Chili Trophy. Names are based on the application completed at entry.

- Winning chili & costume teams/individuals may be featured on various print, media, and social network publications. ** By participating in Chili Cook Off, you are giving your permission to be videotaped and photographed and used in print and/or media communications. **
