Student Government Association

What is it?

The Student Government Association is the recognized forum of student opinion of the Health Science Center. It is comprised of representatives from each school (Dental, Medicine, Health Professions, Graduate, and Nursing). These representatives collaborate and discuss issues pertinent to the entire Health Science Center and organize events to unify all students and faculty on campus.

The Student Government Association (SGA) of the Health Science Center is comprised of representatives and alternates from each school, selected according to procedures adopted by each individual school. Based on the fall semester’s enrollment figures for each school, the number(s) of representatives for each school is one per every 100 students.

How can YOU get involved?

SGA Representatives are elected during class officer elections, or appointed by the respective Dean’s office. If you are interested in being a part of SGA, check with your Dean’s Office to see how your school selects SGA reps.

All HSC students are welcome to attend the various SGA social and service events held throughout the school year.

How do I find out more?

To find out more about HSC Student Government officers and representatives, social and service events, and issues that SGA is discussing, email SGA at SGA@uthscsa.edu, contact Student Life at (210) 567-2654, or your school’s SGA representative.
